Prestigious company located in Chicago’s Northern suburbs is currently seeking an AIX Support Engineer. Provide 1st and 2nd level production support of the UNIX environment including operating systems, hardware, and core software for AIX and Solaris. Participate in a pager rotation with other team members. Responsibilities include: - Support company directed initiatives and projects related to the Unix environment. Communicate issues and results in an efficient manner to project managers, management and project workgroups. - Provide peer training and documentation on specific Unix related projects and initiatives. - Contribute to the consistency of Unix standard configurations and policies. - Regularly review appropriate departmental documentation including Roles and Responsibilities and SOP's ensuring information is updated and ensuring documentation is appropriately stored to ensure availability. - Successfully implement projects sponsored by Engineering, Application Development or Operations properly complying with all established policies such as Project Development Process and change management. - Follow change management processes and structures. - Attend Root Cause Analysis meetings as required. - Keep manager updated on pertinent production issues. Escalate whenever necessary. - Keep Service Center up to date, closing all tickets within 30 days. Provide accurate cause analysis. - Share your knowledge so the team can be effective problem solvers.
